Call Me Jamie.
I was lucky to be born into a theatre family. My Dad was a set designer, my Mom a playwright, director, and artistic director. I grew up surrounded by plays and books, music and art. My parents were also brilliant theatre educators. They instilled in me an enthusiastic curiosity and a hunger for knowledge. I hold a BFA in Acting from Boston University and an MFA in Classical Acting from The George Washington University.
It’s only natural, after 30 years as a professional actor, that I feel inspired more and more to share what I know. My work has spanned all genres. From Broadway musicals to Shakespeare performed in original Elizabethan pronunciation; from my eight-year career as one of New York’s leading female impersonators, to originating roles in new shows Off-Broadway and in top-flight regional theatre and in developmental labs.
As a teacher and coach, I’ve been proud of my association with Goodspeed Musicals, where I’ve created intensives and taught master classes. I’ve been honored to teach for Maltz Jupiter Theatre, Orlando Shakespeare Theatre, and for students of the Punahou School in Hawaii.
Over the past decade, I’ve been coaching amazing talent, refining my
approach, and bearing witness to the success my artists achieve. My clients include stars of film, TV, and Broadway. A Metropolitan Opera star. A tennis pro-turned-rapper-and-monologist. I’ve developed and directed solo shows for cabaret artists that have won every award nightlife has to give. I’ve worked with singer-songwriters, poets, public speakers, and 13-year-old powerhouses.
I love what I do. My clients work — but more than that, they walk away from every audition feeling they’ve done their best work. I’m excited to bring The Work to your work. Call me Jamie — your new coach.
